Video GREEDY GRANDPA is the Award Winner at the Festival of Animation Berlin 2020!
“Greedy Grandpa” is based on the tale by Hungarian writer Alíz Mosonyi, “Grandpa and Grandma”. The story's grotesque style inspired me to use bright colors and simplified, exaggerated forms. Alexandr Sood’ins music energizes the old folk tale and makes it contemporary.
Dumbo
Once I was visiting New York and I had my brand new digital tablet with me. So I started sketching my impressions of everything that I saw. NYC is an extremely colorful and busy city. I stayed in the DUMBO district, that’s why it was the main motive of my scenes. I was drawing outside in the streets and inside of the cafes, and little bars, sketching my friends and strangers…
The Shadow of the Sun
This film is based on the old tale from the von Schönwerth collection. For the animation I created hundreds of original works on paper, made with pencils, ink, pastel, watercolor and gouache.
Drawing Class
This movie is based upon sketches which are my observations of the students from the drawing class I taught for several years. I was sketching them at the moments there were deeply immersed in their own creative work and tried to capture their gestures and facial expressions while there where dealing with a life model drawing.
Pieces
Human relationships are one of the main subjects of my art. I am making multiply studies of people being together, drawing how their emotional state is being expressed through gestures and poses. The studies usually are being developed into large format paintings and many series of drawings.
When I had gathered a fair amount of these drawings, laying around my studio, I suddenly felt a desire to make them move, to make them come alive. As the result, my animation “Pieces” has been created.
